Disney Environmentality

Thank you for being mindful of your environmental footprint here at Walt Disney World! During the Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend Health and Fitness Expo, you’ll find the Disney Environmentality booth in the VISA Center. We encourage you to come by, snap a selfie and take part in an activity. We’d love to hear from our Guests of all ages!

Last season, Chiquita®, the runDisney and Epcot Custodial teams partnered to collect banana peels for recycling. These banana peels are then sent to Harvest Power, an on-site facility that converts non-consumable food scraps into electricity and fertilizer (learn more about Harvest Power here.) More than 3,500 pounds of banana peels were collected in the first year of this initiative!

So when you eat your banana after your event this year, whether it’s the 5k, 10k or half marathon, make sure you look for the yellow banana signs! Collection bins will be placed throughout the finish line, reunion and Race Retreat areas. You’ll also see collection points for mixed recycling, where you can dispose of your plastic bottles and empty snack boxes. Thank you for joining Disney in supporting our commitment to the planet!

Here’s a few more things you can do while you’re visiting our resort:

Grabbing a Starbucks in one of our parks? You can recycle your cold cup and lid when you're done enjoying your beverage!
Staying in a Disney resort? You can help conserve water by reusing your towel. Just hang it up when you're done!
Plan on doing some shopping? Consider using one of our new reusable bags or combining all of your purchases into one of our 100% recycled content bags. By choosing a reusable bag, you are helping Disney with its commitment to reduce single-use plastics. There are different patterned bags for each park and Disney Springs, and one pattern for all the resorts.
Not interested in keeping your park map? You can recycle that too! Drop it in a recycle bin on the way out.
Staying in a Disney resort? Take a Disney bus to one of the parks. Not only is carpooling good for the environment, but our buses run on a renewable diesel made from used cooking oil and non-consumable food waste. A win-win for the planet!

Descriptions:

Yoga - Take part in these all-level Yoga classes to learn poses that can aid you in all areas of your running! In our three different classes, Everyday Yoga, Pre-Race Yoga for Runners, and Post-Race Yoga for Runners, you will be learning poses that complement a training program and help build flexibility and strength in an everyday runner! In Pre-Race Yoga for Runners, learn how to warm up during the morning prior to the race, activating key muscles and awakening your entire body, or come to Post-Race Yoga to help you in your post-race recovery, focusing on easing soreness in key muscles, reducing pain & inflammation, and gradually increasing flexibility and energy in the hours and days after your race.

Ask Jeff with Jeff Galloway - In this discussion with Jeff Galloway, all of your running questions can be answered! When asked what he wants people to get out of this session, Jeff has said, "I want to help each person enjoy every mile of every run."

Kids Snack Pack Program Benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank - Help us provide nutritious meals to needy children who do not have access to school cafeterias during the weekend by assembling a Kids Snack Pack. Each snack pack contains 9 food items and with your help, our goals is to make 1,000!

Masterfully Paired Sessions with Master Sommelier George Miliotes, Wine Bar George - Join George for an interactive session of three wine and cheese pairings. Guests will have the opportunity to learn firsthand from a Master Sommelier, on of only 256 in the world. Tasting included 21+

Runner Pints and Pours - Join the Owners of FitVine Wines and the Head Brewer of Playalinda Brewing Company as they discuss the finer points of designing adult beverages for an active lifestyle. Tasting included 21+, must have a valid form of identification.

Animation Academy - Discover how Disney characters are brought to life during a hands-on presentation with a Disney artist at Animation Academy. Even learn how to draw the characters yourself and take home your art!

Foam Rolling and Stretching Presented by AdventHealth - Get your blood flowing and loosen your muscles alongside a AdventHealth physical therapist with an introduction to foam rolling and some stretching tips and tricks. *Note: Foam Rollers will be available for use.

Pin Trading - Join the merchandise cast members at the pin board for your opportunity to trade your pins for exclusive cast member lanyard pins and discover many more pins from around the globe.

Junior Activity Zone – Bring the kids and enjoy activities that will keep them engaged and having fun! Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
